[T-968] Breaking news! I found out why Anki2SM was having trouble converting the Anki cards I made with Migaku
Dear Rine,
I found the pebble in my immersion setup shoe!
The source of all the trouble, the culprit sabotaging my immersion, confusing Anki2SM, ruining my imports into SuperMemo, it was this little bugger all this time:
<br>
I found it hiding inside a second-level menu within the Migaku Dictionary Settings, in the Edit Export Template window:
For some reason, the double <br>
tags confused Anki2SM.
After I deleted that second break tag, I imported a new batch of sentences generated with the Migaku plugin, converted to XML with Anki2SM, and imported into SuperMemo, and they all showed up fine. Images, audio, definitions, even the Unicode stars, everything is there.
By the time I discovered this I was already experimenting with a new setup. I tried to cut out Anki altogether, but I couldn’t find a way to copy/paste audio files directly from my mac os clipboard into the SM element in my VM.
I also didn’t like the hassle of trying to capture audio snippets precisely with this audio recorder called Piezo.
So, unless a new edge case pops up to ruin my party, I am sticking with Migaku after all.
Caveat: there’s another change I also did alongside with deleting that break tag. For some reason, in my Anki sentence mining note type, the sorting field was set to images. I also changed that to point to the front of the card. I don’t believe this had anything to do with Anki2SM problems, but I’m mentioning just in case because I haven’t tested these two changes separately.
Things I planned/did today
- Passive immersion (I got into a fancy keyboard rabbit hole so I let a bunch of keyboard reviews from Japanese Youtubers play in the background while I tinkered with my immersion setup)
- Active immersion (most likely will skip today because I used up the time to troubleshoot the immersion setup
- Reps
- Final drill (I’m adding final drill as a separate item just to emphasize its importance)
